Poems from the Asylum is a posthumous publication of poems as written by Martha Nasch, a patient of the St. Peter State Hospital for the Insane from 1928-1934. Once released, Martha, went to the local media and they proclaimed her as “the woman who never ate, drank or slept for seven years,” splaying her name across national headline news. The book includes extensive genealogical research, asylum research, and a full medical case study review from 100 years of history which crack the case for her very strange medical condition and answers to other mysteries of her committal. Poems… has been fact-checked by multiple psychologists, asylum employees, and local historians, and is once again starting a media wildfire.
